Risk warning

Cask whisky is an unregulated physical asset. Please read this before you commit any money.

Value risk

Cask values are set by broker opinion and secondary demand. They can fall as well as rise. Past performance and projected return ranges are not guarantees.

Liquidity risk

There is no exchange for casks. Selling depends on finding a buyer through a broker, which can take weeks or months and may require accepting a lower price.

Physical risk

Spirit evaporates during maturation, reducing volume and eventually strength. A cask can develop faults that reduce or eliminate its value. Not every cask improves with age.

Counterparty and custody risk

Casks are stored by third-party bonded warehouses and insured by third-party insurers. We select partners carefully but cannot eliminate the risk of their failure.

Regulatory risk

Cask whisky is not a regulated investment. You are not protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme and cannot refer complaints to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

Tax

Tax treatment depends on your circumstances and may change. Duty becomes payable if spirit leaves bond. Take independent tax advice.
