Process

Six steps from account to cask

Cask ownership is slow by nature. The administration around it shouldn't be.

01

Create an account

Register with an email address or your Google account. Nothing is chargeable and no cask is allocated at this stage.

02

Complete KYC

We collect your legal name, date of birth, address, nationality and source of funds, plus a photo ID and a proof of address. A member of our compliance team reviews it manually, normally within one working day.

03

Choose whole or fractional

A whole cask gives you sole title and the right to bottle. A fractional share gives you a percentage of a larger, often older cask, at a lower entry point.

04

Cask is coded and stored

Every cask carries a permanent Cask Base code and QR label. It stays in an HMRC-bonded warehouse under duty suspension, insured at current market value.

05

Track everything

Movements, inspections, revaluations and changes of ownership are appended to the cask's record. You see the same log our team does.

06

Exit on your terms

Hold as long as you like. When you're ready, sell through our broker network, transfer to another KYC-approved holder, or bottle under your own label.

Fees

No card payments on-platform

Cask Base does not take payment through the website. Once a cask is agreed, our team issues an invoice and settlement is made by bank transfer. Storage and insurance are quoted per cask, per year, and shown on the cask record before you commit.
